(Persia Digest) Hoda Haddadi has won the gold medal award for Best Illustrator 2017 from the 11th Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards.

As reported by Mehr News Agency, Hoda Haddadi has won the gold medal for illustrating the book “Drummer Girl” at the 11th Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards 2017 in the US.

The book had already won gold at the US Literary Classics Book Award for Best Illustration. The book has been authored by Pakistani-Canadian Hiba Masoud and published by Daybreak Publishers in the US. It tells the true story of a little drummer girl in Istanbul who beats the drum to wake up the fasting people for their early morning meal before sunrise.

The Moonbeam Award was established by Gerald Jenkins in 2007 to promote reading and literacy, and encourage generosity and compassion among children to stand up to bullying and to deal with their dreams. It is awarded to the best children's books on various topics that are published every year in North America, in English and Spanish.

Hoda Haddadi was born in 1976 in Tehran and has received numerous international awards for her illustrations. She is also an author of children’s books in Iran.
