(Persia Digest) - The longest lunar eclipse of the 21st century occurred on Friday evening and was seen in large parts of Iran, Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe and South America. In Iran, this lunar eclipse began at 21:44:47, as the most important astronomical event of the century, and it took 103 minutes for the moon to become fully eclipsed.

Last night, many Iranians interested in science and astronomy observed this eclipse, as the next lunar eclipse will happen in 2105, and the odds of seeing it for many are few. Last night, telescopes were installed for the public in some areas of Tehran for observing the eclipse. The following photos show the Iranians watching the longest lunar eclipse of the century last night.
