(Persia Digest) – The Iran desk officer at the EU Banking and Businesses Forum Iran Europe has stressed on keeping the JCPOA, and said: “A network of 250 European banks are currently working with Iran.”

Speaking at the 6th Banking and Businesses Forum Iran Europe on Saturday, she added that the JCPOA was a multilateral political and diplomatic landmark, and reminded: “This agreement is very important for Europe and Iran.”

She continued: “It is evident that the agreement has been under pressure by one of the signatories, creating uncertainty.”

She stressed that the EU was committed to its obligations under the JCPOA, and announced on behalf of the 28 EU ministers: “The JCPOA cannot be re-negotiated or amended by one party. The agreement must be implemented successfully and the US representative at the JCPOA Joint Commission is also in agreement.”

She continued: “The Head of the EU, together with seven commissioners from the Union visiting Iran indicates European resolve to work with Tehran on future projects.”

Talking about banking ties between Iran and the EU, she said: “Today, most European banks have found channels to cooperate with Iran.”

She pointed to the improved status of Iran within the international Financial Action Task Force (FATF) ranks and voiced EU support for Iran’s membership at the WTO, adding: “The EU will assist Iran in small and medium-sized enterprises.”

She reiterated: “We must work to maintain the JCPOA, because the EU has invested heavily in this deal.”

Persia Digest reports that the 6th Banking and Businesses Forum Iran Europe will be held on 28 and 29 April 2018 at the Espinas Palace Hotel in Tehran.
