(Persia Digest) – Iran Coin House has minted a 2018 FIFA World Cup coin for Iran’s presence at the games. 1009 Gold medal coins have the world cup design on them for Iran’s fifth presence at the games. An Iranian football legend can be seen on the back of the coin kicking a ball.
There are also 1009 coins in the silver pack with the same design on the front; but the design on the back shows elements from different periods in the history of Iran, including the Achaemenid, Sassanid, Elamite, and the current era. The coins have security holograms.
Iran Coin House Managing Director, Rahim Parnia, told IRNA News Agency: “The World Cup coin is our latest mint. We will welcome the games with the hand arts of Iran. All countries have such memorabilia. The Iran Coin House mints commemorative coins and prints stamps for famous Iranian personalities. These also include stamps for the IR of Iran postal service with designs of Hafez, Ferdowsi, Imam Khomeini, and Nowruz. We recently produced coin molds for Khayyam Day on 18 May.”
Iran Coin House has also produced 504 pieces of 24 carat gold tablets and 504 silver tablets for the occasion of Ferdowsi’s 1008th commemoration day. The molds are subsequently destroyed to keep the numbers limited.
