(Persia Digest) – The Spokesperson for the Iranian judiciary has announced that the three Australian nationals were arrested for spying and taking photographs in military zones.
Speaking at a press briefing, Gholam-Hossein Esmaeili commented on the arrest of three Australians by saying: “The case has two files. One is for two people taking photos in military zones with aerial helishots who were immediately identified; the images are still available in the camera memory. The second file is spying for another country. In both cases, indictments were issued and are awaiting trial.”
Persia Digest (PD) reports that Times newspaper reported the arrest of two British-Australian women and an Australian man in Iran last week. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade later confirmed the report.
