(Persia Digest) – Iran’s emergency services have announced that the number of injured passengers in the derailing of the Zahedan-Tehran train has left four dead, one missing, and 157 injured.
Persia Digest (PD) reports that on Wednesday afternoon at 16h20, the Zahedan-Tehran passenger train went off the rails a 100kms outside Zahedan in southeastern Iran.
The train had 250 passengers. Of the 157 injured, 102 were treated as outpatients and 55 have been hospitalized.
The Iranian President sent a message of sympathy and condolences while ordering all rescue organizations, especially the Ministry of Health, to take the required measures for the quick treatment of victims. He asked the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development to investigate the accident and prevent the recurrence of such tragedies in the future.
The cause of the derailment is yet unknown and is under investigation.
