(Persia Digest) – While the international “Cinema Vérité” film festival is running in Tehran, good news is also reaching the capital about the success of Iranian short films in other countries.

“Are you volleyball?” by Mohammad Bakhshi is one that has won the US Global Film Festival award for Best Short Film. Another two short films, “Limit” and “I don’t like her” by Javad Daraei have also won awards at the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF).

The award winning short fiction “Are you volleyball?” by Mohammad Bakhshi won the US Global Film Festival award for Best Short Film last night. It has won 20 national and international awards as of today. Some of these include the Milan Film Festival Grand Prix and Young Talent Award of the Italian Mattara Festival.

Short film “I don’t like her” by Javad Daraei won the Golden Fox Award for Best Free Film at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival – FilmFreeway 2017. This festival has been running from 2016 on a monthly basis.

Daraei’s other short film “Limit” also won four awards at the 50 Fifty Reel Hallow's Eve Challenge.

Iran’s short film cinema has been very active on the world scene in the past month and has received a myriad of awards in top international festivals.
