(Persia Digest) – The 2nd Tehran Disabled Fashion Show has taken place with 37 models for 50 outfits designed for 14 disabilities, ending in an amazing event.

Most of the models, who suffer from spinal cord injury (SPI), were showing clothes that do not have the hardships of ordinary wear for the disabled.

These were made of cotton, which is the best fabric for the disabled, and were designed to fit their particular disabilities and ease of movement.

The disabled catwalk has a different set of standards and people are not judged according to height, weight, and appearances. The only factor in selecting disabled models is their personal interest in modeling.

At the fashion show in Tehran, entrepreneur and founder of her own brand, Mahboubeh Rahimian talked about five years of research in designing clothing for the disabled, saying: “My main incentive for organizing this cultural event was the lack of suitable clothing for the disabled.”

According to her, many disabled persons have difficulty in even the simplest maneuvers sitting in a wheelchair, tearing their clothes that get caught in the wheels.

She says: “Before making the clothes for the disabled, I ask them what they want to tailor them to their needs.”

But the evening’s highlight was a proposal made by one of the guests to one of the lady models in the fashion show, making this an even more memorable night.
