Iran becomes champion in Nakhchivan, Arzani joins Australia

(Persia Digest) - Iran's sport has an active presence in the world these days. Ehsan Ghaem-Maghami, Iran's chess captain, became the champion of the 9th Nakhchivan Open 2018, Blitz chess tournament. And Daniel Arzani was placed on the initial list of 32 Australian players for the 2018 World Cup.

Ghaem-Maghami, the Iranian chess captain, managed to win the championship with 7 points out of 9 games in Nakhchivan among 52 chess players from different countries.

Anton Korobov, the grandmaster of Ukraine, and the Europe’s champion, won the second place with the rating of 2681, and Yevgeniy Pak from Kazakhstan ranked third in the tournament with the rating of 2449.

On the other hand, Daniel Arzani, the Iranian-Australian footballer, who Queiroz chose to join the Iranian national team, joined the Australian team instead. He was the midfielder in the Melbourne City Team, one of the best in the Australian league. The 19-year-old has been a phenomenon in the league, and everyone calls him a new talent in Australian football.
