(Persia Digest) – Iran’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology has tweeted: “Presently, the Persian language has a 1.8 percent share of the internet. Mohammad-Javad Azari-Jahromi wrote: “Globalization has led to a drop in the share of certain languages on the web, including Arabic.”
He added: “International statistics published by websites such as W3Techs show the galloping share of the Persian language and script over the past years. This means that the share of the Persian language has increased from 0.6% in 2011 to 1.7% in November 2017.
According to Sputnik, Persian has become the 11th most popular language on the internet. It is currently one rank above Turkish and five ranks above Arabic and is considered the most popular internet language in West Asia and the Middle East.
