(Persia Digest) – Sareh Javanmardi, member of Iran’s shooting team, is taking part at the 2018 Asian Para Games Indonesia, where she has succeeded in winning her second gold medal of the games amid great excitement, this time in the 10m air pistol SH1 category for women.
Javanmardi also won gold yesterday in the 50m Pistol category. Today, she faced fierce competition from her rivals from Iraq, Thailand, South Korea, and China. Iran’s other athlete, Samira Eram, won silver in the same category.
Javanmardi’s second gold medal means she is now Asia’s record holder.
She reached the first quotas of Tokyo's 2020 Paralympic Games at the recent World Cup Championship.
Javanmardi has two gold medals from the Rio Paralympic Games and a bronze medal from the London games. Competing with men in Rio, she broke the record at the finals in 50m Pistol.
Another team member, Roghieh Shoja’ei, also won gold in the air pistol category to become the Asian record holder.
The 3rd 2018 Asian Para Games will run from 6-13 October 2018 in Jakarta, with 2880 athletes participating from 41 countries in 18 fields.
Iran has sent 209 athletes competing in 13 fields. On the third day of the games, it had taken 12 gold, 11 silver, and 16 bronze medals for fifth place.
