(Persia Digest) – Renowned Iranian classical music vocalist Homayoun Shajarian performed at an international musical event in Istanbul, Turkey, Monday evening.
Shajarian, 43, is the son of Mohammad Reza Shajarian, the grand master vocalist of Persian traditional music.
Homayoun Shajarian and his band performed on the third night of the First Istanbul International Folk Music Festival which was held at the Cemal Reşit Rey (CRR) Concert Hall.
The sold-out concert was filled with an Iranian and Turkish audience.

The Iranian singer performed a number of Iranian classical songs including “Neither Angel, Nor Devil,” and “The Lords of the Secrets,” as well as some poems from famous Iranian poets including those of Rumi, Hafez and Shafiee Kadkani.
Shajarian’s ensemble included Tahmoures Pournazeri (on Setar and Tar), Sohrab Pournazeri (on Kamancheh), Hossein Rezaeenia (on Daf) Aeen Meshkatyian (on Percussions), Mahyar Tarihi (on Santour), Azad Morzapour (on Barbat) and Aryan Keshishi (on Base Guitar).

The solo performances of the musicians were accompanied with the enthusiastic encouragement of the audience.
At the end of the concert, Yavuz Bingöl, a celebrated Turkish singer, wished health for Homayoun’s father, the legendary Iranian vocalist Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, presenting a bouquet to Homayoun as a gift for the Iranian nation on behalf of the Turkish people.
