(Persia Digest) – An unexpected event has led to the elimination of the Iranian National Snooker Team from the 2018 World Snooker Championship in China.
Persia Digest reports that Iran’s U18 snooker team flew to China on Mahan Air on 1 July in order to participate in the snooker championship there. But their cues were not loaded on the plane due to negligence.
The team only realized they had no cues once they reached their destination at baggage claim. After many follow ups by the Iranian Bowling and Billiard Federation, they found out that their cues had fallen off the IKIA airport conveyor belt without anyone noticing.
The snooker cues were eventually sent off to Beijing by the airways; but as the games were in a different city, the team had to make do without their most important tools and play with amateur cues instead.
As a result, they were unable to play their rightful game and returned to Iran empty-handed. The team had been preparing itself for many years, and had spent many weeks away from their families in their training camp to take part in the games despite all the economic pressures on Iran. But all their efforts were gone in the wind as simply as that.
