(Persia Digest) – The world's all-time leading goalscorer, Ali Daei, pointed to the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo breaking his record by saying: “That a player such as Cristiano Ronaldo with dozens of honors should break my record will not upset me.”

Persia Digest (PD) reports that after Ronaldo managed to score four goals for his team against Lithuania in Portugal, many media outlets began speculating that he may break the record held by Daei, former Iranian striker, for long years. FIFA’s official site also reacted to the news and asked will Ronaldo break Daei’s record of 109 goals?

Portugal’s National Team player has scored 93 goals to date.

In an interview with IRNA News, Ali Daei said: “Records are for breaking; I did it when it was my turn, and it will be someone else’s turn to beat my record next. It's not a big issue.”

To the question of whether you will be upset to have your legendary record broken, he said: “No, why should I be upset. Ronaldo is a great player with many honors in the world of football. He is on top form right now.”

It is noteworthy that in an interview with the Spanish MARCA sports newspaper in May last year, Ali Daei had said that Cristiano Ronaldo would break his record. Ronaldo had scored 81 goals at the time.
